New Warranty Law
Information on your statutory warranty rights
When you buy from us, you are covered by the statutory warranty rights under German law. Below you will find the most important information regarding your entitlements.
What does the statutory warranty mean?
The statutory warranty protects you if goods you have purchased were faulty at the time of handover. It applies regardless of any voluntary manufacturer’s warranty or any warranty offered by us.
For new goods, the statutory warranty period is generally two years from receipt of the goods.
Burden of proof in the first year
If a defect becomes apparent within the first year of receipt of the goods, it is presumed by law that the defect was already present at the time of handover. This presumption does not apply if it is incompatible with the nature of the goods or the defect.
Your rights in the event of a defect
If a statutory warranty claim applies, you are initially entitled to rectification. Depending on the statutory requirements, this takes the form of:
• repair of the goods or
• delivery of replacement goods free from defects.
If rectification is not possible, fails or is unreasonably onerous under the law, you may be entitled to further statutory rights. These include, in particular:
• a reduction in the purchase price,
• withdrawal from the contract of sale or
• compensation, where applicable, in accordance with the statutory provisions.
Change effective from 31 July 2026
If a defect is successfully rectified by repair as part of the statutory remedy, the warranty period for the repaired defect is extended by twelve months. However, the extended period shall not exceed a total of three years from the date of delivery of the goods.
Please note: This information provides an overview of your statutory warranty rights. The statutory provisions of the German Civil Code (BGB) are exclusively applicable. Any manufacturer’s warranty applies independently of your statutory warranty rights and does not limit them.
